This report presents a comparison of total biomass production in alley cropping systems versus traditional forage production systems as part of an alley cropping research and demonstration project at Murdoch Lake in northern Alberta. Total biomass production (trees plus forage biomass) in the alley cropping systems was found to be higher than in traditional forage production systems. These results highlight the potential value of alley cropping systems in Northern Alberta for producing significant quantities of woody and forage biomass.
