SUMMARY:Shelterbelts and Eco-Buffers: Agroforestry Systems for Resilience
DESCRIPTION:AWES and CARA are pleased to present ‘Shelterbelts and Eco-buffers: Agroforestry Systems for Resilience’ October 29\, 2019 from 3-8 pm in Consort\, AB. \nThis workshop will cover the design and implementation of Shelterbelts and Eco-buffers on Agrocultural land\, with a focus on the northern fescue grassland ecoregion. AWES will advise on how to customize your shelterbelt or eco-buffer design to provide pollinator habitat\, fruit production\, water quality enhancement and more! \nThroughout the evening participants will develop the skills to develop tree planting plans. DESCRIPTION:Wondering what all the ‘buzz’ is about?? \nROARS\, Beaver County\, and AWES are putting on the first bumblebee house building workshop of 2020 in Viking\, AB Saturday February 29\, 2020. \nLearn about the lives and needs of bumblebees and other pollinators while building a bumblebee house to support native bumblebee populations! \nBuild your own bumblebee house in a safe and fun environment! DESCRIPTION:Oh Bee-have!! \nYellowhead County’s Agricultural Services and Parent Link Program is hosting a bee hotel workshop in the Peers Community Centre March 7\, 2020 from 2-3 pm.  \n  \nAWES Staff will answer SWARMS of questions on pollinators\, including: \nWhat are pollinators? \nWhy are they important? \nHow can you plant for pollinators? \n  \nThe presentation will be followed by an instructional demonstration and bee hotel building activity facilitated by Yellowhead County. \nPlease bring your own cordless drill with a #1 inch square bit\, and a set of 3/32-3/16 drill bits that are between 3-6 inches in length.  \nKits will provided at $20/kit\, at a maximum of 2 kits per family.  \nRSVP is required\, and can be done by calling 1-800-814-3935 or 780-325-3782.
